Program updates, international opportunities and the role of “green” in construction

New contracts make military construction a leader in spending by the military. The DoD has requested $14.8 billion for military construction and family housing for FY12. Additional money has also been designated for domestic military construction to assist in Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC).With a large budget in place, the opportunity for a new contract is very high. Military construction projects such as family housing have also taken a forefront in importance. Due to a high return in personnel deployment the need for new housing and base facilities has never been higher. The DoD has allocated $1.7 billion dollars for these projects. Yet with all this money it is important to build facilities that are efficient, cost effective and can last the test of time. Because of constant technological evolution construction projects change at a quick pace. IDGA’s Military Construction Conference 2012 will focus on the importance of construction processes and projects.
